位于日照城区西端，总面积1000多亩，其中毛竹面积200多亩，其他竹子面积400多亩，水域面积400多亩，是南竹北移的成功典范。景区绿化面积在80%以上，自然生长着毛竹、淡竹、斑竹、月竹、紫竹、钢竹、金镶玉竹等100多个竹子品种。设有专门的供游客观赏的竹子品种展示区，竹子产品琳琅满目。这里既是一个天然氧吧，又是一个天然的竹子博物馆。景区是山东省电视台外景拍摄基地，被国家旅游局评为“全国农业旅游示范点”，被国际旅行商协会评为“中国最具吸引力的地方”， 2008年被评定为“国家AAA级景区”。
风景区共分为六大功能区，分别是竹文化园、民族文化园、休憩园、水上娱乐园、原生毛竹林、又一村生态园，构成“北国江南别有洞天”的旅游主题。六大功能区各有特色，共有景点30余处，竹文化、民族建筑文化、民族风情文化、民族餐饮文化等均让游客产生浓厚的兴趣，百看不厌，流连忘返。
风景区与美丽的付疃河相依相伴，交通条件便捷，地理位置优越，距日照长途汽车站8公里，距同三、日东高速入口5公里，距日照海滨17公里，距日照国际侯船厅20公里，15路公交车终点站设在园区门口。风景区充分体现了浓郁的江南风情和民族文化特色，园内建有竹楼、竹亭、竹廊。少数民族艺术团常年为游客表演民族歌舞，特别设有游客参与性强的竹竿舞、上刀山下火海、斗鸡、套鸭等娱乐项目。竹林间百鸟争鸣，河面上白鹭嬉戏，游客可乘竹排、乌蓬船一睹北方江南风光。
